
While speaking during a covid-19 press briefing on Monday, Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi announced there were 72 new covid-19 cases in Kenya within the last 24 hours. The total number of coronavirus cases has risen to 1, 286. The number of samples tested today were 2, 711.
Additionally, 9 patients have been discharged from hospital today after recovering from the disease. The total number of people who have recovered from coronavirus has risen to 402. The number of deaths in Kenya is now at 52 after one patient succumbed to the disease. The number of samples tested since the breakout of coronavirus in Kenya is 61, 971.
Dr Mercy condoled with the family and friends who have lost loved ones from coronavirus.

Of the new 72 coronavirus cases, 70 are Kenyans, 1 is of Somali nationality and one Ugandan. In terms of gender, 44 are males and 28 are females. The age range is between 12 to 78 years.
The positive cases are spread across the following counties; 52 cases in Nairobi, 11 in Mombasa, 7 in Kiambu, 1 in Isiolo and 1 in Turkana. Turkana becomes the latest county to record a case. The total number of counties that have recorded positive coronavirus cases is 29.

According to sub-counties, the cases are distributed as follows; 21 cases in Lang’ata, 15 in Dagoretti North, 4 in Kibra and Kamukunji each, 2 in Embakasi East, 3 in Kasarani, 1 in Dagoretti South, 1 in Makadara and Mathare each.
In Mombasa, 4 covid-19 cases are from Nyali, 3 in Mvita, 3 in Kisauni and 1 in Changamwe. In Turkana, the one case is from Kakuma. The 7 cases in Kiambu are from; Limuru, Githunguri, Ruiru, Kabete, Thika and Kikuyu.
