“I thank all my friends for the overwhelming love and support. I am stronger than ever before. I will be coming back to you later with more updates. One love,” he said.

Senator Murkomen was ousted and replaced in a Jubilee parliamentary meeting which was chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta today. The meeting was attended by 20 senators from Jubilee party and the Kenya African National Union (KANU).

In the meeting, there were other leaders who also lost their positions. Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki was replaced by Senator Fatuma Dullo as the Deputy Majority Leader. Moreover, Majority Whip Susan Kihika was demoted and replaced by Senator Irungu Kang’ata.

The new Senate Majority Leader Samuel Poghisio is the West Pokot senator and is also in KANU. He has served in government in the past.

The new leaders were elected in a bid to resolve the wrangles in the coalition’s senate leadership. Uhuru also congratulated the newly elected leaders and assured them of his support in the days to come. He expressed his interest in working closely with the new senate leaders to deliver services to Kenyans.

According to Jubilee Party Constitution, a party leader can take disciplinary action against party members who are: disloyal to the party, have gross misconduct, are corrupt or show lack of respect to the decisions of the party, fail to carry out party directives or do any other thing that may bring the party into disrepute.
