State House employees test positive for coronavirus

Several State House staffers have allegedly been admitted at the Kenyatta University Referral Hospital after testing positive for coronavirus.

This follows a targeted mass testing of the staff at Kenya’s top most office, which was done on Wednesday and Thursday. That’s when some were discovered to be covid-19 positive.

Sources now say staffers are not allowed to go into the main offices of President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.

Those living outside State House were given leave in March. In addition, those living inside the premises have not been allowed out.

President Kenyatta has hosted a couple of key events at State House, hosting more than the recommended 15-people gathering. These include the National Prayers over Covid-19 on March 21, Labour Day celebrations on May 1, Madaraka Day celebrations on June 1 as well Jubilee Party parliamentary groupings for senators and MPs.

Uhuru also hosted an inter-governmental meeting with governors on Covid-19 preparedness last week.
